Stephen Dawe’s essential function as the Director of Informational Technology is to oversee and direct the city’s Information Technology Department. The position is responsible for staff supervision, establishing goals, planning information system infrastructure and architecture, dissemination of information to the public and special projects. Dawes has a higher national certificate in electrical engineering from University of Central Lancashire, a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from Nottingham Trent University and a master’s degree in computer information systems from University of Phoenix. Currently, he is pursuing a doctorate degree from Auburn University and is expected to graduate in 2019. Before coming to the United States, Dawes worked as an electrical engineer for British Aerospace Systems and brings more than 25 years of experience to the city. His favorite thing about his job is seeing how informational systems can help employees succeed and how the departments makes things more efficient for citizens. When Dawes is not developing new ways to make our city be more technologically efficient, he enjoys spending time with family and reading.
