Anita has been employed with the City of Opelika for 29 years. She began working at the Opelika Police Department in 1988 as a Communications Operator and quickly realized that hardback books were a lot more appealing than hardened criminals. In 1989 she began working at the Library as a Library Assistant and in 1997 became the Circulation Specialist making the transition to Adult Services Specialist in 2021. She is currently married to Charlie Burton and together they have 4 children and 6 grandchildren who they simply adore. If you ever want to know how to or how not to get away with murder, she is your girl because true crime novels are her specialty.
