Dr. Stephen Dawe’s essential function as the Chief Technology Officer is to oversee and direct the city’s Information Technology Department. This position is responsible for staff supervision, establishing goals, planning information system infrastructure and architecture, dissemination of information to the public and special projects. Dawe has a higher national certificate in electrical engineering from University of Central Lancashire, a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from Nottingham Trent University, a master’s degree in computer information systems from University of Phoenix, and a doctorate in Management Information Systems from Auburn University. Before coming to the United States, Dawe has worked as an electrical engineer for British Aerospace Systems, and a games programmer for Bell Fruit Manufacturing and thus brings more than 25 years of experience to the city. His favorite thing about his job is seeing how informational systems can help employees succeed and how the departments makes things more efficient for citizens. When Dawe is not developing new ways to make our city be more technologically efficient, he enjoys spending time with family and reading.
