Overview

Municipal Park located on Denson Drive in North Opelika is a popular gathering spot with several playground areas, a picnic shelter, a gazebo, and an antique miniature train known as the Rocky Brook Rocket that runs seasonally on Sunday afternoons. 

A beautiful city park located across the street from the Opelika Recreation Center on Denson Drive. Rocky Brook Creek meanders through the park making it a perfect picnic destination.

Concerts

Municipal Park is also the site of the Annual Summer Swing Concert Series, held every Tuesday evening for 13 weeks. Families can sit on the creek bank, listen to a variety of musical offerings presented on the Bandstand, and enjoy hamburgers and hot dogs cooked at the quaint concession cabin.

Amenities

The park contains both a shelter and a gazebo with picnic tables. They are available for rental through the Recreation Center. A unique attraction in the park is the Rocky Brook Rocket, a vintage train. The train runs seasonally and is also available for rental. Playgrounds are located throughout the site. Restrooms available. Municipal Park has recently been upgraded to meet ADA standards.
