On 03/22/2023, the Opelika Police Department began investigating an Identity Theft and Theft of Property, First Degree, which occurred at Beshears Tractor and Equipment, located at 1809 Columbus Parkway. The business was contacted via telephone by a female identifying themselves as “Tamara Johnson” regarding purchasing multiple mowers. Johnson was initially approved for a loan and four suspects occupying a white truck picked up two mowers on 03/21/2023. Beshears was later notified that Johnson was denied the loan due to fraud. Surveillance video shows two of the four suspects who picked up the mowers along with a white Dodge Ram truck without a tag. The first suspect, a black female with short red hair, is seen wearing a white shirt and black and white pants. The second suspect, a black male, is seen wearing a white t-shirt, dark pants and sneakers.
