Early in the year of 1873, a group of Opelika men met at the home of Mr. J. H. Lockhart to discuss the possibility of forming the city’s first fire department. Shortly thereafter, the Opelika Fire Company was formed. Today we celebrate the leadership of our department throughout its 150-year history!
