OPELIKA, Ala. – Opelika Mayor Gary Fuller announced today that an existing Opelika manufacturing company will be expanding. Cumberland Plastic Systems will be expanding their existing facility and investing more capital to build and expand their current facility.

Cumberland Chief Financial Officer Tim Kling added, “Our continued growth has come from both new customers and existing customers. Currently Cumberland employs 170 employees and this expansion will create 25 new team member positions which will fill warehousing, production and technical positions within the company.”

The current facility has 155,000 square feet for injection molding and value-add assembly, housing 33 injection machines from 40 tons to 1,500 tons, as well as many assembly operations for varied customer applications. The planned $5.7 million expansion is for an additional 60,000 square feet of warehouse space and additional manufacturing equipment.

Mayor Fuller added, “We are delighted at the commitment Cumberland Plastic is  making in our community. The success that warrants additional investment and the creation of additional jobs is proof that the company has outstanding leaders and staff in place.”

City of Opelika Economic Development Director, Lori Huguley added, “Cumberland Plastic Systems is a great community partner. It is a great testament to their workforce and the business climate in Opelika that they continue to invest and grow here.”
