[ARCHIVED] NEW: Dance classes for toddlers, youth and teens!

Opelika Parks and Recreation is now offering dance classes for toddlers, youth and teens at Covington Rec Center. 

Dance with Me

Ages: 18 months-3 years
Session Dates: 9/29-12/15
Class Day/Time: Wednesdays at 11:15 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Location: Covington Recreation Center
Cost: $30

This is a class for children and their Mom/Dad/any other caretaker to participate in together! This is a creative movement class, focusing on developing motor skills, creativity, and enjoyment of dance. We will learn new skills, learn a bit of ballet technique, and developing creativity and movement all while we dance and have lots of fun! 

Junior Musical Theater Dance

Ages: 7-12
Session Dates: 9/29-12/15
Class Day/Time: Wednesdays at 5:45-6:45 p.m.
Location: Covington Recreation Center
Cost: $30

In this class, students will learn the basics of jazz technique through the style of musical theatre. We will begin class with a warmup and stretch, learn and practice skills/technique across the floor and in the center, as well as learn choreography from well-known Broadway shows. In addition to learning technique, we will also focus on characterization, performance, and style, all essential elements of musical theatre. No prior experience required.

Teen Musical Theater Dance

Ages: 13-18
Session Dates: 9/27-12/13
Class Day/Time: Mondays at 6:45-7:45 p.m.
Location: Covington Recreation Center
Cost: $30
