[ARCHIVED] OPELIKA WILL NO LONG ACCEPT GLASS AT RECYCLING CENTERS

Opelika’s 8th Avenue and Jeter Avenue Recycling Centers will stop accepting glass on Tuesday, August 31st due to problems shipping this material to upstream recycling facilities. Basically we are receiving more glass that we can ship. This has become a widespread problem in Alabama with a number of other cities and counties no longer accepting glass. We are working on a local solution to this issue and at some time in the future hope to be accepting glass again.  Thank you for your efforts to recycle glass in the past and we look forward to being able to offer glass recycling in the future. We apologize for any inconvenience and ask that you dispose of glass in your regular garbage cart.
