The City of Opelika is excited to announce its Summer in the Park event to wrap up its 2022 United Way Fundraising Campaign. On Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. join city employees in Municipal Park for the Burgers and Badges Grill-Off, the Incredible Duck Race down the creek, rides on the Rocky Brook Rocket and so many more fun activities.
The Burgers and Badges Grill-Off is between Opelika Fire Department and Opelika Police Department. For $5 you can get a burger, chips and a drink. Support your favorite department and come hungry!
In 2019, we had our first duck race down the creek and had a wonderful turn out! This year, the races will begin at noon, ducks will be five dollars each and there are some great prizes for our winners – including a yearlong SportsPLEX membership for first place.
The rocky brook rocket will also be running. Tickets are a dollar each. We are so excited to have Auburn University’s tiger - Aubie making a special appearance and several other summer activities.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to United Way of Lee County to assist our neighbors in need. We hope you join us for this fun event for a great cause!
