The City's Engineering Department was an integral part of the event. Scott Parker, City Engineer, and his staff were part of a group who used this as an opportunity to teach students about water, conservation of natural resources and becoming better stewards of the environment.
In addition to our Engineering Department, representatives from Opelika, Auburn and Lee County, along with the Alabama Agricultural Extension Office, the Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service and Clean Water Partnership, were on hand to educate and have a little fun with the kids. Interactive booths kept the kids engaged and excited. They learned about aquifers and water cycling. At the end of the day, they experienced a magic show by environmental magician Paul Cash.
