WEATHER UPDATE FROM LEE COUNTY EMA

Weather Update from Lee County, Alabama EMA:
Hurricane Sally is continuing to show trends of shifting EAST which will ultimately place more rain in our direction. Depending on how quickly Hurricane Sally turns east will depend on the impacts and threats of severe weather. At this point we are preparing for all modes of severe weather with the primary focus on flooding.
Overall TIMING: Hurricane Sally is still expected to make landfall Wednesday Afternoon between 1pm and 2pm. This time has continued to shift due to the slow down of Sally. Currently Hurricane Sally is moving between 2mph and 5mph, which will lead to a very large amount of rainfall as it makes landfall.
LOCAL TIMING: Lee County will begin feeling the impacts of Hurricane Sally beginning Wednesday Afternoon (9/16/2020) and potentially going until Friday Day Time (9/18/2020).
Threat Timing: At this time the threat for Severe Weather will be Wednesday afternoon into the night time hours. The heat of the day and the instability will be a large factor in what impacts we see. Flooding threat will be from Wednesday until Friday unless the system slows down more which could expend the flooding window.
