OPELIKA, Ala. – Starting on Monday, August 3, 2020 contractors will completely shutdown the intersection of Geneva Street and Stowe Avenue in order to place the new curb and gutter along Stowe Avenue. Once paving is complete Geneva Street will be fully open from Stowe Avenue towards MLK Parkway.
The intersection will need to be closed for the curb placement and the grading that has to be done in order to pave. The goal next week is to have all of Geneva and Stowe ready to pave by the end of the following week, weather permitting.
While the intersection at Stowe Avenue is closed, access to Reynolds, Blossom Shop and El Rodeo will still be available from McCoy north to those businesses. El Rodeo also has access from MLK Parkway south towards the business. In both cases, coming from MLK Parkway and McCoy to these businesses people will need to drive around the barricades located at Vaughn and Gay Street and be cautious headed towards these businesses.
