[ARCHIVED] Activities for Social Distancing (Fitness + Kids Activities)

Need to get the kids out of the house, but trying to practice social distancing? Here are our Top 10 Activities for Children.

When venturing away from your home please remember to observe proper hygiene, avoid touching your face and always wash your hands after coming in contact with surfaces or people.

If you’re missing your fitness routine and are craving some physical activity, we’ve got a great Top 10 List of Fitness Activities for adults.

When venturing away from your home please remember to observe proper hygiene, avoid touching your face and always wash your hands after coming in contact with surfaces or people.

  1. Take a walk around your neighborhood or at one of Opelika’s many outdoor walking tracks and trails.
  2. Ride a bike!
  3. Plant flowers or visit the Caroline Dean Wildflower Trail at Monkey Park.
  4. Download the geocaching app and hunt for the hundreds of hidden geocaches in Opelika.
  5. Create your own nature hunt or plan a DIY scavenger hunt.

  6. Get your furry friends out of the house and visit the Floral Dog Park or Stern Dog Park.
  7. Eat your lunch in the sun. Shady Park is a great open green space for a picnic.
  8. Get artsy outside. Painting, sidewalk chalk, slime and kinetic sand are perfectly suited for outdoor fun.
  9. Visit the Calhoun Tennis Center for a fun game of tennis.
  10. Have some good ‘ol fashioned fun with hulahoops, bubbles, balls, water balloons, sprinklers and jump ropes.

  1. Stream our group fitness classes posted on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
  2. Stream our trainer videos posted on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
  3. Break a sweat in our cardiovascular area.
  4. Get in some resistance training in our weight room.
  5. Take a walk/run on our indoor and outdoor tracks.
  6. Play a game of racquetball on one of our two courts.
  7. Try your hand at pickleball (Opelika SportsPlex) or tennis (Calhoun Tennis Center).
  8. Enjoy the outdoors with a game of Disc Golf.
  9. Take a hike at the Wood Duck Heritage Preserve and Siddique Nature Trail.
  10. Try out our fitness circuit at West Ridge Park.
