[ARCHIVED] CREWS BEGIN PRUNING AND TREE REMOVAL PROCESS IN OPELIKA HISTORIC DISTRICT THIS WEEK

Crews will begin pruning and tree removal in the historic district this week. Starting Tuesday, September 24, 2019, crews will be working on 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue. For the public’s safety, there will be lane closures throughout the process. Please plan your daily commute accordingly.

About a year ago, the City of Opelika began working on a long-term ADA self-evaluation/transition plan. We set out to become the safest, most business and family friendly city in America by 2023. As a part of this plan, all city sidewalks, buildings, programs and services must become ADA compliant. Tree removal and pruning are part of this long-term plan to ensure our roads and sidewalks are safe for citizens and visitors.

For more information, please contact Kevin Rice, City of Opelika ADA Compliance Officer, at 334-705-2083 or [email protected].
