What a great night! I always love to recognize our teachers and others who served our community over the years.

I had the honor to recognize the Opelika City Schools Teachers of the Year.

I also recognized Sergeant Lucy Kirk for her years of service to the Opelika Police Department. Lucy was the first Black female police officer for the OPD, the first female to be awarded the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary S404 certificate of appreciation and one of the first hostage negotiators in the Lee County area.
