In 2019, the City of Opelika began working on a long-term ADA self-evaluation/transition plan. We set out to become the safest, most business and family friendly city in America by 2023. As a part of this plan, all city sidewalks, buildings, programs and services must become ADA compliant.
This work will continue over the next several months. There will be some road closures and tree removal/pruning in the process. We appreciate your patience while we make ADA improvements around the city. For more information, contact Kevin Rice, City of Opelika ADA Compliance Officer, at 334-705-2083 or [email protected]

December 8, 2021: ADA crews have moved to North 10th Street and will be replacing both sides of sidewalks. They are starting at the intersection of North 10th Street and 4thAve and working along the North Bound shoulder. During work hours there will be a single lane closure with flagmen posted to direct traffic. This sidewalk replacement is expected to take about 6 weeks to complete.
