Fire Prevention and Burn Permits

Fire Prevention Division

The Fire Prevention Division is the most public-facing branch of our organization. Fire prevention staff work with the public daily  in areas such as fire and life-safety inspections on new commercial structures, inspections for new business license applications, burn permit issuance, fire investigation, plan review, fire drill coordination with Opelika City Schools, fire-safety presentations, pre-fire planning, social media content, and public outreach in schools and day-cares. We also work closely with the American Red Cross in support of their Sound The Alarm smoke detector initiative.
