Length of Term: 5 years.

Appointed by: Mayor. All five members of the board are appointed by the Mayor.

Required / Purpose: The Opelika Housing Authority’s (OHA) mission is to provide safe, decent and sanitary housing conditions for low-income families, the elderly and persons with disabilities. The OHA’s objective is to provide personal, economic and social upward mobility to provide individuals and families the opportunity to make the transition from subsidized to non-subsidized housing. It manages housing units for low-income residents with rents they can afford. OHA also administers the Section 8 voucher program for low-income families.
