Appointed by: Opelika City Council appoints three of the 13 members of the Board of Directors. The City of Auburn and Lee County appoint the remaining board members.
Required / Purpose: The Lee County Youth Development Center is a private nonprofit organization established in response to the growing need for shelter and placement for abused and neglected children. The center strives to provide a high standard of quality care, innovative prevention and treatment programs, and well-trained and qualified staff to achieve its mission. The Center operates under the governance and authority of a Board of Directors. The Center’s main campus is in Opelika. It also operates Project Uplift housed on the campus of Auburn University, a Transitional Living Home, Therapeutic Foster Care Homes and Independent Living apartments.
