East Alabama Mental Health Board of Directors

Meets: 3rd Thursday in April and October at Mental Health building.

Time: 5:30 PM.

Length of Term: 6 Years.

Appointed by: The thirty-three-member board is appointed by eleven city and county governments. The City Council appoints three members of the Board.

Required / Purpose: The Board of Directors is responsible for the governance of the East Alabama Mental Health Center. The Board is responsible for, in collaboration with the Executive Director, the fiscal management of the Center and the development and implementation of policies and procedures.  The Center provides services for persons with serious emotional disturbance, mental illness, intellectual disability and/or substance abuse problems.

The Mental Health Board is authorized to establish, construct, maintain, and operate mental health facilities in east Alabama.
