Historic Preservation Tax Incentives

Rehabilitating historic properties can promote economic development, encourage heritage tourism and support sustainability. Often, if a property is listed or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places -- individually or as part of a historic district -- it is eligible to receive federal and state preservation tax incentives. These incentives help to defray the costs of rehabilitation projects for owners of historic properties while ensuring those properties are preserved according to preservation guidelines.
