Opelika Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association

The purpose of the Opelika Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association is to offer support to the Opelika Police Department in their endeavor to serve and protect the community. This support includes volunteer work in areas approved by the chief of police and various fundraising activities to assist the department and its employees. The Association will also promote the Opelika Citizens Police Academy through leadership, advocacy and service to assist the department in communicating the instruction, training, information and guidance provided by the academy.

Graduates of the academy may join the Association below.  Anyone who would like to support the organization financially may donate online or mail a check payable to The Opelika Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association to PO Box 2141, Opelika, Alabama 36803. The Opelika Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Community Police Officer of the Year

At the Chief's Banquet, four Opelika Police Officers will be recognized as Community Police Officers of the Year. This award will honor officers who displayed exemplary service to the community, through a critical incident or through their community involvement. 

The Opelika Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association presents the Inaugural Opelika Chief's Banquet. Funds raised will be used for a commissioned art piece by local artist Carol Bandy and gifted to the Opelika Police Department by the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. The artwork will be on display within the police department. 

The event is Friday, August 19, 2022, beginning at 7:00 p.m. It will be held in the Southern Room at Southern Union State Community College.
