The City of Opelika has three cemeteries it oversees and maintains:
Rosemere (which was added to the Alabama Historic Cemetery Registry in 2011)
Because we know that for most people these places are “sacred ground,” our crews work very hard at maintaining these areas as “garden settings” where loved ones can come and reflect on the lives of those who have passed away.
Please visit our cemetery map to find vacant lots, search for loved ones and print a map.
Garden Hills Cemetery Memorial Trees
Memorial Trees have been planted at Garden Hills Cemetery. The trees are oaks, elms, and maples. The trees can be named in memory of a loved one and would include a small “in memory of” plaque containing the loved ones name. The price is $1,000 for the tree. To have a tree named please contact the Public Works Department at 334-705-5400.
You can purchase granite vases at the cemetery office building. Any installation is done by cemetery staff at no cost. Below is a purchasing list of our cemetery items:

ESG places flags on the Veterans graves on three occasions during the year; Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day. They are removed after the Holiday and stored until the next event. If you have a Veteran buried in one of the three City Cemeteries and they are not receiving a flag call 334-705-5400 or 705-5445.
