The City of Opelika has three cemeteries it oversees and maintains:
Rosemere (which was added to the Alabama Historic Cemetery Registry in 2011)
Evergreen
Garden Hills
Because we know that for most people these places are “sacred ground,” our crews work very hard at maintaining these areas as “garden settings” where loved ones can come and reflect on the lives of those who have passed away.

Garden Hills Cemetery Memorial Lights
Memorial lights are available to be placed at a loved one’s grave site. The lights are constructed of a bronze frame with a red insert. They are mounted on a stake and contain a battery powered candle. The lights would be placed at the grave site of a loved one in memory of them during a Holiday. The available Holidays are listed below. The lights would keep burning throughout the night for 4 nights. The price is $50 per holiday. Memorial Light Rules
Christmas: Put them out December 23rd; take them down December 27th
Easter: Put them out Thursday; take them down Monday
Mother’s Day: Put them out Thursday; take them down Monday
Father’s Day: Put them out Thursday; take them down Monday
4th of July: Put them out on the 2nd; take them down on 5th
Any 4 day special occasion
Garden Hills Cemetery Memorial Trees
Memorial Trees have been planted at Garden Hills Cemetery. The trees are oaks, elms, and maples. The trees can be named in memory of a loved one and would include a small “in memory of” plaque containing the loved ones name. The price is $350 for the tree. Vases

Veterans Flags
ESG places flags on the Veterans graves on three occasions during the year; Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day. They are removed after the Holiday and stored until the next event. If you have a Veteran buried in one of the three City Cemeteries and they are not receiving a flag call 334-705-5400 or 705-5445.
