Youth Camp

Each year the Opelika Police Department (OPD) hosts a youth camp on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of the first week after school lets out for summer break. The 2023 camp will be Tuesday, May 30 through Friday, June 2. Our annual youth camp is for fourth grade students, going into the fifth grade.  It is for children who might not otherwise get to participate in a summer activity. It is four days of fun in the sun at Springvilla Park. Registration is required and space is limited. Our school resource officers will provide forms to the schools in order for students to register.

Activities

At the OPD youth camp there are all sorts of fun activities for the youth and their camp counselors to do! Some of the things we have lined up for them include:

  • Playing organized games
  • Crafts
  • Competitions
  • Swimming every day at Covington Recreation Center

We also bring in guest speakers who talk to the students about the importance of staying in school, building character and making the right decisions in life. Several divisions of the OPD put on demonstrations for the students, and also provides lunch and several snacks throughout the day, courtesy of many area businesses and restaurants.

Donations

Youth Camp would not be possible without the generosity of our community. If you are interested in contributing to our annual youth camp, please contact Sgt. Whaley at [email protected]
