There are certain violations of ordinance/regulations that are not enforced by the Code Compliance Division. Those violations, and who does handle them are the following:
- Parking in Any Area
Falls under the jurisdiction of the Opelika Police - Inoperative Vehicles on the Right of Way (ROW)
Falls under the jurisdiction of the Opelika Police Department - Abandoned Vehicles on Right of Way or Private Property
Falls under the jurisdiction of the Opelika Police Department - Animals
Animal Control Officer or OPD (after hours) - Littering
Falls under the jurisdiction of the Opelika Police Department - Illegal Dumping of Trash or Brush
Falls under the jurisdiction of the Opelika Environment Services (OES) - Heavy Vehicles Parked in Residential Zones
Falls under the jurisdiction of the Opelika Police Department - The Cutting of Trees or Shrubs on Private or City Property
There is no ordinance with regulations for this unless driver vision is impaired near intersections - The Cutting of Urban Forests
There is no ordinance with regulations for this - Revenue Department Does Not Issue Sign/Building Permits
Falls under the jurisdiction of the Planning Department - Noise Violations
Falls under the jurisdiction of the Opelika Police Department - Smoking in Public Places/Prohibited Areas
This article shall be enforced by the Lee County Health Officer, or an authorized representative thereof, or a duly authorized City of Opelika designee or representative. (The Lee County Health Department, Opelika Fire Department, the building officials or their designees shall, while an establishment is undergoing otherwise mandated inspections, inspect for compliance with this article.)
