Storm Water Post Construction BMP

The City of Opelika is required to comply with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Water Act and Alabama Department of Environmental Management’s (ADEM) Storm Water Permit. Opelika is reaching out asking all businesses to evaluate their impact to storm water and complete and submit a Best Management Practices (BMP) inspection.

A “BMP” (Best Management Practice) is a management, structural or non-structural land applied treatment to enhance, filter and protect storm water as it runs off your property, eventually contributing to the ground water supply.

The 2-minute survey is being rolled out through the Opelika Business License Office. As water quality guidelines become more stringent, we are encouraging our partners to think of their offsite impacts to storm water that ultimately affect our environment and ground water.
