The Human Resources Department provides a variety of services designed to attract and retain qualified motivated employees committed to serving the citizens of Opelika.  The department is located at 204 S. 7th Street, Opelika, AL. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Human Resources Department recruits and refers applicants for available openings, conducts pre-employment checks to include drug test, criminal history and reference checks; however the hiring department is responsible for interviewing and selecting candidates.

Mission Statement
The Human Resources staff endeavors to interactively perform all Human Resource functions for the City of Opelika by providing responsible quality service to our employees, our City and its citizens.

Provide efficient and effective service to employees and staff in a confidential atmosphere. 

Ensure City employees are given opportunities to enhance themselves through job enhancement and job enrichment by promoting personal employee growth through educational opportunities.

Promote training concerning rules, regulations, policies, and procedures involving safety, workers compensation, and general job duties in order to alleviate the potential for litigation.
