City Administrators Report on Weather

Hey Opelika - City administrators are asking people to go home and stay off the streets.  The Opelika Police Department and the Opelika Fire Department will only respond to emergency calls. There have been some automobile accidents and traffic signals are not operating at several intersections. Our police officers are very busy working these crashes and directing traffic. Firefighters and rescue must be available for real emergencies.

Opelika Power Services has suspended repair operations until the winds decrease. We can not safely put our linemen is a bucket to make repairs because of the high wind. Power is off to over 3,000 of our customers and will not be restored until we can make sure our linemen will be safe.

We appreciate your understanding and patience. Please stay off the streets until conditions improve. Keep our community, first responders and our state and nation in your prayers.
