What is the OPD Reserve Corps?
The Opelika Police Department’s Reserve Officers are non-sworn, police auxiliaries who assist the Opelika Police Department officers in a wide variety of duties and situations, including: patrol duties, natural disasters, special events and times when additional manpower is needed.
Why join the OPD Reserve Corps?
People are attracted to Law Enforcement for many reasons: a desire to help those in need; a sense of community service; or just for the excitement. However, the most common reason is a burning desire to “be there” whenever something happens. Our Reserves do not want to read about what happened yesterday in the newspaper, they want to BE THERE when it happens and see it with their own eyes. They would rather make the news than read the news. AS A MEMBER OF O.P.D.'s Reserve Officers Corps, YOU WILL BE THERE!
